What personal data do we collect and why do we collect it

Remarks

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data appearing in the comments form, as well as the guest’s IP address and browser user agent string to help identify spam.

An anonymous string generated from your email address (also called a hash) may be sent to the Gravatar service to see if you use it. The Gravatar Service Privacy Policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. Once your comment is approved, your profile picture will be publicly visible in the context of your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the site, you should avoid uploading images that include embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Site visitors can download and extract all location data from images on the site.

cookies

If you leave a comment on our site you may join in saving your name, email address and your site in cookies. These are convenient for you so you will not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last a year.

If you visit our landing page, a temporary cookie is set to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie does not contain any personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, a number of cookies are set to store your login information and the display options of your screen. Login cookies last two days, and screen option cookies last one year. If you select “Remember me” your login will last for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

If you are editing or publishing an article, another cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie does not contain any personal data and it simply indicates the post ID of the article you just created. The validity expires after one day.

Embedded content from other sites

Articles on this site may contain embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Content embedded from other sites behaves in the same way as if the visitor visited the other site.

These sites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking and track your interaction with the same embedded content, including tracking your interaction with embedded content if you have an account and are logged into that site.

With whom we share your data

How long do we keep your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are kept indefinitely. This is so that we can identify and confirm all follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in moderation.

For users who register on our site (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can view, edit or delete their personal information at any time (except they can not change their username). Webmasters can also view and edit this information.

What rights do you have to your data

If you have an account on this site, or have any comments, you may request to have an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we delete all our personal data. This does not include data that we are obligated to keep for administrative, legal or security purposes.

Where do we send your data

Visitor comments may be reviewed through an automated spam detection service.
